Mālama i Ke Kai Microfiber Towel
Nā Kama Kaiʻs mission is to empower children by connecting our keiki to the kai and ʻāina to nurture a deeper sense of aloha and kuleana for the natural environment and themselves. We do so by teaching ocean safety, conservation, and stewardship through Hawaiian culture, to increase environmental awareness and instill a deeper love for the ocean. We believe that if we can connect all these keiki to the ocean not only will it save lives but it will also create a bond between the next generation and the ocean which in turn will ensure that the ocean will be taken care of. Mālama i ke Kai Towel: Featuring an ʻōlelo noʻeau, "Mālama i ke kai a e mālama ke kai iāʻoe. Care for the ocean and the ocean will care for you." We teach the importance of caring for our oceans as everything that is done on land affects what occurs in the water through the ahupuaʻa system that connects the land to the sea. The animals featured on the towel include three of our endangered species, the Hawaiian Monk Seal, Hawksbill Sea Turtle, and the Green Sea Turtle (threatened).
